Newer Times Terms of Service

Effective date: October 23, 2026 · Last updated: October 23, 2026

1. Who we are and this agreement

Newer Times (newertimes.com) is a free social network for adults. It is run by Newer Times LLC, a Delaware limited liability company, 8 The Green #27201, Dover, DE 19901 ("Newer Times," "we," "us"). These Terms are a legal agreement between you and us. By creating an account or using Newer Times, you agree to these Terms, our Community Guidelines, our Privacy Policy, our Copyright and DMCA Policy and our Cookie Policy. If you don't agree, please don't use Newer Times.

2. Who can join

  • You must be 18 or older. We ask for your date of birth at sign-up and don't allow anyone younger to join. If we learn that a member is under 18, we will close the account.
  • You must give your real name and a working email address, and you must confirm your email before you can sign in.
  • One person, one account. You can't create an account for someone else or share yours.
  • You can't join if we have banned you before, or if the law doesn't allow you to use a service like ours.
  • Newer Times is only for people who live in the United States, including U.S. territories and APO/FPO military addresses. When you sign up, you confirm that you live in the U.S. and give a U.S. ZIP code. You can keep using Newer Times while you travel.

3. Your account

You sign in with your email address and password. Keep your password private. You're responsible for what happens on your account. Tell us right away at legal@newertimes.com if you think someone else has used it. Keep your account details accurate.

You can change your email address and password in Settings. Changing your email needs your current password and a link we send to the new address. Your old address keeps working until you click it, and we let your old address know about the request. To protect accounts, we limit repeated wrong passwords (a 15-minute wait) and password-reset requests, and reset links expire after 1 hour.

4. Newer Times is free

Membership and every feature available at launch are free. We don't charge you, and we don't ask for payment details. If we ever offer paid features, we will explain the price first and charge you only if you choose to buy. The free features you already use won't start costing money without notice and your agreement.

5. Your content

You own what you post. "Content" means anything you add to Newer Times, including posts, photos, clips, comments, messages, profile details, birthday messages and the friends you spot in photos.

To run Newer Times, we need your permission to handle your content. You give us a non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide license to host, store, copy, display, format and share your content. That includes resizing photos and converting clips for streaming. We use this license only to operate and improve Newer Times, and only show your content to the people your settings allow. The license ends when you delete the content or your account, with these exceptions:

  • copies other members already shared, when you allowed sharing;
  • copies we must keep for a moderation case, a legal hold or the law (see the Privacy Policy);
  • backup copies, until they are replaced in the normal backup cycle.

You promise that you have the right to post your content. That means it doesn't break any law, these Terms or the Community Guidelines, or anyone else's rights. If you post a photo of other people, make sure they're okay with it.

6. Who sees what

You control who sees your content.

  • Posts: Each post can be Public (any member), Friends or Only me. Newer Times remembers your last choice. You can change who can see a post after you share it.
  • Profile: Your profile and each profile section (location, relationship status, birthday, work, education and links) have their own setting.

Newer Times is for signed-in members. Visitors who aren't signed in can't see profiles or posts. Remember that anyone who can see your content could copy it or take a screenshot.

7. Features

  • News Feed. Most Recent shows Public posts and posts your friends shared with you. Friends shows only friends. Discover shows popular recent posts from people you're not friends with.
  • Wall posts. Friends can post on your wall unless you choose "Only me" in your privacy settings. You can remove anything someone posts on your wall.
  • Photos and Photo Spotting. You can spot (tag) friends in your own photos and posts. We never use automatic face recognition. You can remove yourself from any spot, and you can turn off "Allow Spot a Friend" so no one can spot you.
  • Reactions and comments. You can react to posts and comment on them. When you like or dislike a comment, only you can see your dislike.
  • Clips. Short videos, up to 60 seconds. They are stored and streamed by our video provider. Clips have upload and size limits, and we review a member's first clips before they go public.
  • Messages. You can send private messages only to friends. Messages aren't end-to-end encrypted (see the Privacy Policy). Newer Times staff can send messages to any member.
  • Birthdays. You can send friends free virtual cards and gifts and write birthday wishes on their wall. Virtual cards and gifts have no cash value and can't be exchanged or resold.
  • Invitations. You can invite people you know by email (up to 5 every 24 hours), by text from your own phone, or with your personal invitation link. Only invite people you know who you think would want to join.
  • Weather. The weather box uses public U.S. government data. It's for general information only: it may be delayed or wrong, and it is not an emergency alert system. Always follow official warnings.

Blocking. You can block any member except Newer Times staff. Once you block someone, neither of you can see the other's profile, posts, photos, comments or clips, or message, friend, follow, spot or interact with the other. Blocking also ends any friendship between you, and the blocked member isn't told. You can review and remove blocks in Settings. Blocking works only inside Newer Times: it can't remove screenshots or copies someone saved elsewhere.

8. Newer Times Instant Messenger

When it becomes available, the Newer Times Instant Messenger desktop app will connect to your Newer Times account and friends. These Terms and the Community Guidelines apply to it. The app store you download it from may have its own terms too.

9. Community Guidelines

You must follow the Community Guidelines, which are part of these Terms. In short: no one under 18, no nudity or sexual content, no harassment, hate, threats, scams, spam, fake accounts or illegal activity, and never anything that sexualizes a minor.

10. Reports, moderation and enforcement

Any member can report content, profiles or messages. Our moderators review reports. We aren't required to watch everything on Newer Times, but we may act on anything that breaks these Terms, the Guidelines or the law. Depending on how serious the violation is, we may:

  • remove or restrict content;
  • give an official warning;
  • suspend the account for 30, 60 or 90 days;
  • permanently ban the account.

A suspension signs you out of every device. A ban hides your profile and posts and stops your email address from joining again. Content reported as child sexual exploitation is hidden immediately until an administrator reviews it, and we report it to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC) as the law requires. You can appeal a warning, removal, suspension or ban once, within 14 days, using the link we send you. Where possible, a different moderator reviews your appeal.

11. Advertising

There are no ads in the News Feed, and no ads anywhere on Newer Times at launch. We don't sell your personal information. If we ever add advertising outside the News Feed, we will update these Terms and the Privacy Policy and tell you before it starts.

12. Our property

The Newer Times name, logo, design, birthday artwork and software belong to us or our licensors. You may use them only as Newer Times allows. If you send us ideas or feedback, we may use them without owing you anything.

13. Leaving or losing your account

You can stop using Newer Times at any time. In Settings you can deactivate your account (hidden until you sign in again) or delete it permanently (your password and a final confirmation are required). You can download a copy of your information first. If you delete your account, you may join again later. A member we have banned may not. We may suspend or close accounts that break these Terms, put others at risk or expose us to legal liability. We may also close accounts that haven't confirmed their email within 7 days. Sections 5 (for content we're allowed to keep), 12, 14, 15 and 16 continue after your account ends.

14. Disclaimers

We work hard to keep Newer Times running and safe, but we provide it "as is" and "as available," to the fullest extent the law allows. We don't promise it will always be available, free of errors or free of harmful content posted by others. We aren't responsible for what members post or do, or for services run by others (like weather data or links members add).

15. Limits on our liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, we aren't liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages, or for lost data or profits. Our total liability to you for any claim is limited to the greater of $100 or the amount you paid us in the past 12 months. You agree to cover our losses from claims caused by your content or your breaking these Terms. Some places don't allow these limits, so they may not apply to you.

16. Disputes and governing law

The laws of the State of Delaware, and U.S. federal law, govern these Terms. Any dispute between you and Newer Times will be resolved by binding individual arbitration, not in court, and you and we each give up the right to a jury trial and to take part in a class action. Either of us may still bring an individual claim in small-claims court, and either of us may go to court over intellectual property. Before starting arbitration, you and we agree to try to settle the dispute informally for 30 days, starting when one of us sends the other a written notice describing it (ours to the email on your account, yours to legal@newertimes.com). If it isn't settled, arbitration will be run by the American Arbitration Association (AAA) under its Consumer Arbitration Rules. Fees are paid as those rules provide, and hearings can be held by phone or video, or in the county where you live. An arbitrator may award only individual relief. You may opt out of arbitration by emailing legal@newertimes.com within 30 days of first accepting these Terms, saying you want to opt out. If the class-action waiver is found unenforceable for a claim, that claim will be decided in the state or federal courts located in Delaware.

17. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms. For a major change, we will tell you on Newer Times or by email at least 14 days before it takes effect. If you keep using Newer Times after that, you accept the new Terms.
