Newer Times Community Guidelines
Newer Times is a friendly place for adults to keep up with friends and family. These Guidelines are part of our Terms of Service. They apply everywhere on Newer Times: posts, photos, clips, comments, wall posts, profiles, birthday messages, private messages and the Instant Messenger.
1. Be real
- You must be 18 or older.
- Use your real name, and keep one account per person.
- Don't pretend to be someone else, or create fake or automated accounts.
- Don't buy, sell or share accounts.
2. Be respectful
- No harassment or bullying, including repeated unwanted contact, insults, piling on or encouraging others to target someone.
- No hate speech or hateful symbols attacking people for their race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, sex, gender identity, sexual orientation, disability, age or serious illness.
- Disagreement is fine. Personal attacks aren't.
3. Keep everyone safe
- No threats, calls for violence, or praise of violent attacks.
- Don't promote or encourage suicide, self-harm or eating disorders. If someone seems to be in danger, report it to us, and call 911 if it's an emergency. In the U.S., you can call or text 988 to reach the Suicide & Crisis Lifeline.
- No dangerous organizations or groups that promote violence.
4. No nudity or sexual content
Newer Times is a social network, not an adult site.
- No nudity, pornography or sexually explicit material.
- Never share intimate images of anyone without their consent. That includes real images and fake or AI-altered ones. If someone shared an intimate image of you, use our Report an Intimate Image form (no account needed). We remove valid requests within 48 hours.
- Zero tolerance for anything that sexualizes a minor. Content reported as child sexual exploitation is hidden right away. We report it to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC) as the law requires, and we permanently ban the account. Don't share, download or screenshot it; just report it.
5. Nothing illegal
- No buying, selling or promoting illegal drugs, weapons, stolen goods or other illegal items or services.
- No content that helps someone break the law or hurt others.
6. No spam or scams
- No scams, fraud, phishing, fake giveaways or requests for money from people you don't know.
- No spam: no repeated unwanted posts, comments, messages, friend requests or invitations.
- Only invite people you actually know, and don't send invitations to lists of strangers.
- No fake likes, reactions or follows, and no automated tools.
7. Respect privacy
- Don't post someone's private information, like their home address, phone number, financial or ID details, or private messages, without their permission.
- Only spot friends who were actually in the photo or with you. If someone asks you to remove a spot or a photo of them, please do.
- Don't record or share private conversations to embarrass or threaten someone.
8. Respect other people's work
Only post photos, videos, music and other material that you created or have permission to use. See our Copyright and DMCA Policy.
9. Reporting and what happens next
Use Report on any post, comment, clip, profile or message, and choose a reason. The reasons are harassment, hate, threats or violence, self-harm, adult content, sexually explicit material, child sexual exploitation, illegal activity, spam or scam, fake account, impersonation or stolen photos (we'll ask what's going on, such as someone pretending to be you or using someone else's photos), an intimate image shared without consent, a member who appears to be under 18, or something else.
- Reports are private. The member you report isn't told who reported them.
- Reporting doesn't hide content for everyone, except reports of suspected child sexual exploitation. Those are hidden at once while an administrator reviews them. You can also tick "Also hide it for me," or use Hide for Me on any post, comment or clip.
- Threats, self-harm, illegal activity and child exploitation are treated as urgent and reviewed first.
- Deliberately false or abusive reports break these Guidelines.
| What we may do | When |
|---|---|
| Remove or restrict content | Content breaks a rule |
| Official warning | A first or minor violation |
| Suspend for 30, 60 or 90 days | Repeated or more serious violations |
| Permanent ban | Severe violations, such as child exploitation, credible threats or serious scams, or repeated violations after a suspension |
We may skip steps for serious violations. You can appeal a decision once, within 14 days, using the link we send you. Where possible, a different moderator reviews your appeal. If the appeal succeeds, we undo the decision automatically.
You can also block anyone who bothers you, from their profile (⋯ › Block). Blocking hides each of you from the other and stops messages, friend requests and interactions. It doesn't notify them, and it doesn't replace reporting someone who breaks these Guidelines.
